Peplum with it’s sartorial elegance has been around for a minute and remains a high street hit. Vera Wang describes it as a play on proportions to make the waist look smaller. I personally have gone through several cycles of the peplum craze and still can’t get enough.
Step into a waist nipping peplum piece and instantly feel that flip your hair, take a few steps back and forth, take a mirror selfie and send to your bfs and maybe even a pout moment all of which translates to ‘I’m loving it’!
The flattering illusion of a narrower waist accentuates the hour glass shape as confirmed with by the fitting room mirror selfie and next thing you know, you’re at the register excitedly paying for the latest addition to your already expanding peplum collection.
I paired my gorgeous appliquéd Ankara peplum top with a pair of holiday red floor grazing pants. Slim trousers and pencil skirts work great with peplum tops as well.
The past couple years saw a surge in the comeback of 70’s style including trousers cut more generously at the hem aka ‘Flare Pants’. I am sporting one that was holiday appropriate speaking of which, ‘Can we rewind the holidays pretty please’? These pants are as chic as they are fun.
I finished the look with a mini cross body bag and pair of heels that really didn’t see the light of day since I like my pants very long. Don’t ask me why but I feel those look best on me and also give the 'legs for miles' effect.
How’s everyone doing? Hope you're feeling energized and ready to take on the brand new year.

Happy New Year to you and your family lovely Idu! Now this is one way to turn peplum into a fabulous style statement! The silhouette is indeed super flattering and that print is gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the sartorial elegance peplum tops evoke. I love my pants long as well. I like how you converted the shoulder bag to the trendy look of waist/hip bag...aka fanny pack (shudders). Your take with the YSl is of course chicest...I'd wear that any day! All in all, another killer look.

Vintage sizing is nothing like modern sizing and is often much smaller than what we’re used to buying in the store. You should follow suggestions from this site before going to vintage shopping for the first time.
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely spectacular Idu! I love peplums and the one you are rocking is stunning. The bag is fabulous too.

That top is like a work of art. Those florals are so beautiful. And paired with red flare. Drama baby! In a very, very good way. BTW I couldn't agree more Idu. I feel like we've only just hit Decembe. But it's January. And at the peak of mid Jan no less. Whaaa?!
