The Power of Monochrome

All Red Winter Look

Monochrome is timeless and keeps one looking polished without trying too hard. Run out of styling ideas? Throw on separates in the same color scheme and voila - an effortless chic new look is born!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, SF weather is so difficult to dress for. It’s not out of the ordinary to be at freezing point one hour and a couple hours later oops 70’s. Pile on the layers in the am and within an hour, you start peeling them off and shortly after you putting them on again. Who relates? Gotta love layering right?

But if layering is not your cuppa tea, then a cool yet cozy and trendy balloon sleeve sweater over a midi skirt finished with booties is a perfect match for the deceptive weather.

I am sporting a head to toe holiday red look featuring different textures that come together seamlessly for an undeniably posh look. The skirt’s a steal at $28 and honestly so is the top and quite truthfully the boots. I was quite the red hot vision.

What are your thoughts on monochromatism? Are you a master or a rookie when it comes to this tried and true trend?

Tips That Hit the Mark
-Go for pieces in different textures to add depth and dimension to your look. My knit sweater worked well with a silk skirt, a leather bag and woven booties.

-Have one or two of the pieces be slightly darker or lighter. For this look, I went for a bag that's a hue or 2 darker than everything else.

-Chuck awkwardness out the door and own your look. Some people may say wtf but your confidence will sell the look.

What other tips have worked for you? Please share in the comments section below.

Hi y’all! It’s been one hot minute. Yours truly had her hands full and needed some time. I was on Instagram though, @fashionably_idu. Are we connected? Yaaassss!

  11. Yaaaasss....So glad you are back! I love your bold, beautiful and on trend, yet classy look....and yes, "monochromatism" works for me too...hehe. We have close to the same bipolar weather here in Texas as well....and for that reason, I love me some layering. Gotta get good with your laying game around here to stay sane. Very handy tips on adding depth and dimension to an outfit...not forgetting, of course, the confidence thing! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Ciao...

  14. What an absolutely gorgeous all red look! You have certainly returned in style:). Welcome back! Thank you for your kind message. I was away for months, but there was no way around it. I missed blogging, though. It is funny how one gets used to it, right?

I agree that layering is the way to go, especially when the weather is unpredictable. Herzegovina falls under a Mediterranean climate category, but sometimes we also get snow and cold temperatures. The difference between the early morning temperature and middle day (when the sunshine makes all the difference) is quite drastic, so most people make sure they layer well.

Monochrome looks always look very classic to me....I love love this all red look. Wonderful skirt and sweater combo. Gorgeous boots and bag! You look sensational.

P.S. That hairy style is so pretty....and your make up is always so flawless. Absolutely beautiful styling dear!!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
