I struggled with a title for this post. Gingham Style? ‘Check This Out’? Plaid Top and Flare Pants' ?. A couple eeny meeny miney mos later and I went with Gingham Style. Phew!
Fashion trends are truly cyclical. Gingham has been back in case you haven’t noticed. It’s no longer limited to school uniforms. Yes, it’s used as school uniforms in some parts of the world, did you know that? How trendy those students must look. Lucky ducks!
It’s also not limited to table covers and picnic basket liners anymore. Heavily served at fashion runways, street style mavens and bloggers are wholly embracing gingham. It's very wearable and transitions seamlessly from runway to real way / street style.
Even though I’ve seen head to toe gingham look ever so fabulous albeit tricky to pull off, to curate a perfect ‘not too busy’ look I chose to pair my gingham cold shoulder top with solid bottoms. I arguably played it safe but this is a great way to whet your appetite for this trend. If you didn’t hit the ground running with it already that is. The peplum hem added a feminine touch while the cinched waist created an illusion of an hourglass. The lush greenery was a perfect backdrop. Spike gold heels and a red Alma bag were my accessories of choice. I actually listed this bag to sell on Poshmark, having had it forever and only carry it once in a blue moon.
Hi loves!
Have you been spotted sporting gingham pieces yet? What color combo is your favorite?

ReplyDeleteThese photos just take my breath away. . . So much Awesomeness!!
ReplyDeleteThat top...that top...that top...after obssesing about it, I just had to click and see where you got in from...and the funny thing is that it doesn't even look that good on the model, I wouldn't even notice it if I saw it on that website. The way you styled it and the way you wear it is what makes it magical! Really! That is what I love about fashion, it is in a way about stories. It is not about clothes, they're just a medium for our storytelling, for we create the stories with our clothes. It is always about us not about clothing items, sure by themselves they can be fab, but they trully come to life only when worn- Fascinating how much better you wear it, the energy and the everything...I think those gorgeous flare pants don't take the attention from the top, they make it stand out even more. Such a perfect pairing! The heels are fabulous as well, everything comes together brilliantly...and that top just looks fantastic and on you it is like---here comes the million dollar look!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFlawless make up and hairdo...Fantastic photos. Such an amazing fashion moment, thank you for sharing it with us, you really inspired me today. Totally I actually wore a skirt with ruffles and a blouse with flare sleeves so I was doing the 'flare' thing myself.
Thank you for you wonderful comment. I feel the same way...I think it is hardest for the parents, because more and more there is this feeling that nobody is safe and I often worry abou the kind of world kids will grow up in. I think it gets to us all. Such tragedies really take something away from us and create a strain on our soul...but what can we do? Live our lives the best we can and try to share the love hoping that love will prevail in the end.
Amazing look and shoes !
ReplyDeleteLovely look!!! Happy weekend! :)

ReplyDeleteWow Idu this is one of my favourite outfits of yours, you look so pretty! Love gingham. You are right about the school uniform. My daughter used to wear a gingham dress for school in the summer here in the UK but not now she is in high school. That doesn't stop me loving gingham though. It's a classic. Have a great weekend.

First of all, I love this hair. Second of all, I love it even more pulled back. Finally, you took a big risk with this outfit and it paid off. I love the poses and the shoes. Some fashion pieces should be framed. And these pants are one of them. The nude lipstick is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteDear beautiful Idu, how good you have chosen this title for this post as I'm a huge gingham fan in general. I really love this pattern and for sure your outfit, too, although it is absolutely different from the gingham styles one normally is wearing <3 But you did definitely a fantastic job and look simply wonderful! Have a very happy new week!

You are such a beauty, girlie, WOW! I love the high fashion, editorial vibe of this outfit, the details are so lovely and work so well together, too! I didn't know that gingham is a print used in school uniforms in some parts of the world, I learnt something new today! Sometimes, I feel that finding the right title for a post is the hardest part, but you had some great thoughts and I love the one you went with. Thank so much for sharing and I hope you have a great week ahead!

That top is absolutely gorgeous! The silhouette of the outfit actually reminded me of those lovely Christian Dior's looks during the 50's, when he used to say women should be like flowers :)
