Peplum, The Trend That Isn't Fading

Well Hello World!
It feels like 24 hours ain't cutting it anymore. I need at least 6 extra hours in a day. Can that be arranged? Is anyone else feeling this way? It's assessment and progress report time at work and I am pooped. I had zero time to write and for some reason my scheduled posts didn't go up. Tech is so not one of my strong points. My twins also had a birthday on the 6th so yeah, life was busy last week. But I'm here and it's always nice to see you back. And hey, it may not be a bad idea to post on Mondays from now on.

Today's post will probably be the briefest I've written for obvious reasons. But its a peplum dress designed by and sent to me from my friend Dwight of Vindictive whose designs I've styled hereherehere and here to mention a few. Speaking of peplum, don't we all love this non fading trend? Oh c'mon, you know you love it!

With all the hemline options from minis and high lows to midis and maxis, I like to say midis are my favorite and another reason I fell in love with this semi sheer dress. I don't know about you but any thing peplum sure gives me life. It's always love at first sight. When placed on the waist just like in this dress, it gives an illusion of a narrow waist. Hallelujah to that!

Did you know peplum has been around since the 1850s when they made their debut on corset tops, skirts and jackets too? The standout detail of an otherwise simple piece of clothing, I say this resurgent trend has stood the test of time and is definitely here to stay.

And how is Fall coming along where you live? Even though these pictures were taken indoors in my home, the weather is still somewhat mild. But I'm excited for long rainy nights in the near future.

Your thoughts?

  1. You look amazing in this dress my dear!!!I really like the cut of this dress and the fabric from which it is sewn :-)

  2. You look utterly beautiful and very feminine in that peplum dress. Such an elegant and polished styling! The orange clutch is a wonderful pop of colour...and you know that I loveeee those heels. You look picture perfect from head to toe.

I didn't know peplum was a trend dating that back...but I sure love it. Another thing I adore are midi skirts...so you can imagine how much I'm impressed by that dress. The material the details on that dress----simply divine!

Your home is lovely...For a moment I thought those orange vases were some kind of Autumn decorations...and maybe your orange bag is a reminder that Halloween is around the corner? I didn't make any Autumn decoration yet, I figure there is still plenty of time.

p.s I think that Monday is the perfect day for posting. That is when statistically a post gets the most views....I remember reading so on Rena's (dressed with soul) blog. I'm not good with tech either, I can't even get my insta account back.

  4. You are just a walking Mannequin Idu, i could design a sack of jute bags and throw them on you and you would walk into a room and captivate everyone in the room. This black dress hits every curve and the length as you said is just perfect.Love the lace details and your heels too. Well let me know when you find that extra 6 hours'cos i need it as well especially now that my routine has become so busy,i don't think i've had up to 5 hours of sleep every night..lol, i have even been behind in publishing my blog posts and i think posting on Mondays is not bad at all. Kisses to your twinnies and hope you have a lovely week .

I'll take a peplum any day since it truly gives an illusion of a smaller waist - something I'm lacking these days. You look stunning in the outfit. Perhaps your friend Dwight can hook your girl up too ;-)

And totally agree.. I want 30 hours in a day, 8 for working, 8 for sleeping.. and the other 14 for the other stuff! :)

And while we're at it.. I'd also love 8 days in a week.. of which 4 days for working and 4 days of 'weekend'. You know.. as long as I'm dreaming. :-P

  41. This has such a lovely, Paris feel to it. And I like your history on the material because it feels styled from a different, more elegant age. Perhaps I am influenced by the stunning beauty inside it tho. Of course those sheer parts up top drove me wonderfully wild. What an exciting and sexy view they provide. Picture 4 proved especially difficult to pass by, a few very good minutes at least ;) But that last shot was the one that really got me. Those side views, even a hint of seeing that back, and I am all done :) You are so incredible and I appreciate your kind words on my blog too.

Peplum is a very sophisticated lady like trend, and I agree it is here to stay. I've tried wearing it, but somehow end up not doing it. I don't feel like myself in it somehow, oh well. Looks gorgeous on you Idu!
