No Limits Jumpsuit

How have jumpsuits taken over my closet?
A joyful melding of comfort, functionality and style would very easily be the culprits.
Are you a fan?

Hi everyone, it's been a hot minute. I miss you all, I miss writing and I'm hoping to get back to it in the very near future.

How about this 'No Limits' onesie that's super comfortable, stretchy and hugs every curve. I styled it with a Gucci belt bag worn two ways and a pair of black sky high combat boots.

Have a fantastic Veterans day weekend!

Paint Brush Print Pant Suit

Soft paint brush print in the Fall?
Count me in! There's absolutely nothing wrong with shaking things up a bit and flawlessly rocking these soft feminine colors year round.

Fashion is so cyclical! The paint brush and paint splattered print from way back is back! Dang I should have held on to all of mine. Not to worry, you can always breath life into a dying piece by DIY~ing the trend and keeping that piece around for a couple more seasons.

Soft hues are typically associated with Spring while jewel tones stay linked to Fall. If you're like most people, then you typically move your light pink clothing to the back of the closet and reach for the deeper hues as Fall rolls around. But if there's one thing I've learned about fashion and styling over the years, it's that you can wear any shade at any time of the year and be very unapologetic about it. A pastel sweater dress paired with those boots you've been dying to show off is a great way to stay fresh while keeping warm at the same time.
It's also a 'go to' look for the street style savvy.

A predominantly soft and alluring print piece like this is not only refreshing but can also be worn well into the Fall because the fabric isn't totally flimsy. While I plan to style the blazer and pants as separates in the future, today I'm showing how I styled the drool worthy pant suit with a baby pink bag but also showed it with a rich red belt bag.

The paintbrush print is cropping up in deeper autumnal tones. How have you been painting the town rainbow by rocking this trend?

Ultra Girly Lace Frills
Ultra Girly Lace Frills
Ultra Girly Lace Frills

These ultra girly and very elaborate lacy frills that decorate the sleeves and cascade down the length of this jumpsuit are a definition  of femininity.

A sartorial symbol of delicate womanhood, ruffles date back to the fifties and I’ve been obsessed with this throwback fashion trend lately. They are featured in skirts, tops, shoes and bags. Remember these looks here, herehere? I’m truly obsessed! If you’re like me then you must be enjoying this comeback as well.

Hi guys! It’s been a hot minute huh? Y’all know my day job is teaching and when school gets back in session, its very challenging to juggle all the feathers I wear effectively. But I’ve missed everyone and I’m positive I was missed too. The break was great though, Ha!

I didn’t do a lot of traveling over the Summer unlike in Summers past but I did turn up the volume in cascading ruffles at my college reunion in San Diego. It's one of the outfits I wore to dinner at the weekend long reunion.

Are you a fan of ruffles and frills and how do you work them into your wardrobe and style?

Ruffle Envy

Saturday, June 17, 2017

Perfect for events as well as off duty hours, there’s very little not to love about jumpsuits. Their comeback was embraced by the fashion world and lately, they’ve become the outfit of choice by most it gals even in the face of umm, bathroom awkwardness. A creation of Anya By Vivien, this jumpsuit right here is nothing short of POWERFUL
The belt says it all.

I've known and been buddies with Vivien the gal behind Anya By Vivien for about seven years or so when we met at a friend's wedding in Washington DC and I can tell you right now that she is a master when it comes to creating outstanding pieces like the one I'm showing today.
A deep v-neck jumpsuit made of polished cotton and finished with a detachable Ankara print cape, YES PLEASE!!!

I adore the pleated sleeves and the bottom is long enough even for the tallest of gals. The addition of a belt to the already killer silhouette further accentuated the hourglass.
So cute, sassy and different from any jumpsuit I own, this piece makes a statement without taking things over the top. Not that I'd complain cos I lean towards OTT sometimes too, Ha!

As you can see, the cut is quite low so I had on a purple (of course) crop top to keep the girls covered. However, Summer with it’s triple digit temps is around the corner and even though lots of bloggers have a ‘quickie’ (no pun intended) relationship with their outfits, I’ll gladly suffer through the summer heat wearing this gorgeous jumpsuit again, this time without the crop top.
Stay tuned for that and more fab pieces from them.

Are you contemplating picking up a jumpsuit or two for summer? Or some fun pieces for that tropical getaway that’s in the works? Beach vacay or not, this one needs to be snagged asap and packed. Think weddings, graduation parties, sunset dinners or heck that patio overlooking the ocean candlelit dinner for two. You can’t go wrong with this, this and this either. I'm linking their Instagram here for more fabulous pieces. Thank me later now.
You’re welcome!

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are mine. Quoting SP, no place for B.S around here!

I'm always hungry for color and this Bougainvillea bloom had a jaw dropping 'wow' escape my lips. Did you catch my Insta post on them here? I knew right away I wanted to shoot there and hoped they'd hold their blooms until I returned. Some did, others not so much.
Beautiful regardless!

Jumpsuit Perfection: Anya By Vivien

Monday, February 27, 2017

We know own them and we love them. They save us the stress of not looking for pieces to match our separates making them very effortless or easy peasy like I say. Step in and go, literally. They are trendy and comfy (forget when you have to use the bathroom) and versatile. I read somewhere that Topshop stocks about 80 jumpsuit styles as a lot of gals have not only embraced them but made them staples.

JUMPSUIT
A jumpsuit is a one piece pants and top combo usually worn as a uniform, for protecting ones clothing/skin or as a fashion piece by itself. On those days when you can’t figure out what top to pair what bottoms as you stare at your closet full of clothes, girl grab a jumpsuit, step in, zip or button up and be on your way! Literally. Just remember that using the bathroom may be a challenge. So gravitate towards ones with front fastening. Low back zippers are workable too as wall as halter necks. If you wear one with the zipper running all the way up the back, then find a friend to go in the stall with you or you’re screwed.

HOW TO STYLE
I know I’m not alone when I say I love how functional jumpsuits are especially for obvious reasons. Like most fashion pieces, they are versatile however they can also come out looking wrong if not done right.

  • Finding the right fit is of course key. If it’s too fitted, the love handles and other bulges we don’t want to show become very visible. And if its too slouchy, we end up with a frumpy appearance. Just like Goldilocks and the 3 bears, we need to find the middle ground piece that’s perfect for our body. Things to take into consideration are your height, your weight, your age haha JK and general aesthetics. Not everything is for everyone. Jumpsuits may not even be for you.

  •  While jumpsuits are the sartorial functional and easy outfits, they could also appear boring. Add some interest and to your look by throwing on a solid color jacket if your JS is a print fabric or a print Jacket if your JS is a solid color. Go for a color block look with both pieces or a perfect and trendy print on print look with both.

  •  Depending on the season, throw on some bright accessories for pops of color. A chunky scarf, bag or something as simple as a bright lipstick works great.

  •  Sneakers are all the rave now. Throw on a pair of sneakers or dress up your JS with heels. Sandals would show off your perfect pedicure as you feel Spring and Summer in your toesies while ankle boots keep them nice and toasty. The mercury levels will determine which way lean. Spring enthusiasts would most def go for sandals, Ha! Dressed up or down, jumpsuits are very flattering on most gals when done right.

  •  While Spring is around the corner, temps are still pretty cold in most parts. A tank or tee layered under your onesie is just what the doctor ordered and a great way to add a print, or color and dimension to your look.

  • While some are slouchy in tune with the utilitarian nature, some are a flared and some are fitted. Either way, you can cuff the legs (I mean whats not cuffed these days) to show off your heels.

  • Roll up the sleeves, undo a couple buttons, and cuff the legs for an effortless yet chic finish.

  •  Picking your colors is something else to have in mind. Black is known to have a slimming effect so if you’re looking to achieve a slimmer look, consider going for a black piece. It will also give a lengthening effect if you have a small frame.

  • Summer is around the corner and I know lots of chicks are working on their beach bodies. Those well toned biceps will be showcased perfectly in a halter jumpsuit. If you have it, heck flaunt it. Nothing wrong with that. My friends Jules and Juaneta come to mind.

TODAY'S LOOK
A military green jumpsuit that's slim and light weight with tapered legs was perfect for an early evening meet up. This pair strikes the perfect balance between high end and high street making it perfect for both daytime and nights out. For 13$, it was a steal!

The light weight fabric will get you more bang for your buck as it stays seasonless - perfect for blustery winter days and to mild Spring days.

I dressed it up with my favorite ankle boots. As the temps dropped I added dimension to my look by throwing on a robe topper with frilly details from way back when I walked Bebe new collection shows.

Military green is enjoying a moment in fashion and It’s safe to say I adore it! You probably do too huh? Remember this suit here? And if you follow me on Instagram @fashionably_idu you should have seen the flower appliqué jacket I posted last week, one the picks from my Zaful wishlist.

THIS WEEK
This week is so special! Why, you ask. <<DRUM ROLL>> It’s my birthday on Wednesday the 1st of March. It just so happens to be Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. As a catholic, I prefer not to celebrate during lent, but I sure will mark it. Let me be the first to wish myself a very very happy birthday.

Hello loves!
I had such a busy last week. My son got in a car crash and totaled his 16th birthday present. I had to drive down to Santa Barbara and back on the same day. Lots of running around. He is ok though. But I had no time to write a post for the weekend which is why I’m posting on Monday. I may stick with Mondays though, was great to have time over the weekend to write. So yeah, Monday is now the new Saturday!
Did you watch the Oscars? Janelle Monae! That's the gown of my dreams. Elie Saab is beyond amazing! She also had me missing my short hair, beautiful! Hailee Steinfeld was another stunner of the night in a Ralph & Russo gown. I love love love and want want want!

Army Green Jumpsuit and Robe Coat

"Screw Labor Day and Memorial Day, wear white whenever and however you like".
After all it’s that time of the year when the sun teases us into thinking it’s Summer even though the temps say otherwise. Through all that sunshine the rain has also been coming down like we are in the middle of the Amazon somewhere.

Capes are not just for superheroes anymore. Infact they're hugely present in vintage fashion and have gone mainstream fashion popping up everywhere. I don’t know of a lot of gals that don’t own at least one cape dress. They add interest to a look. This lil cape of mine added an oomph to an otherwise simple and straight cut jumpsuit while maintaining a clean, minimal silhouette - understated elegance, totally!

I’ve been down with a cold. One of the downsides of working with kids. One kid gets a cold and we all get it, all it takes is one sneeze. I probably sound like a broken record reminding the kiddos to sneeze into the bend of their elbows. So I've been home nursing a cold that has every symptom in the book, coughing, sneezing, watery eyes, stuffy nose.

Didn’t I mention here that March is burnout month for educators? Yes, we all are getting cross-eyed testing kids, inputting test scores in the system and working on second trimester report cards. That was my week. Long and hard. I’m taking it all in stride, it’s still March and I’m still so unabashedly excited and celebrating my entire birth month, :)). #NotLettingAnythingBurstMyBubble.
I hope your week was way better than mine.

Seen the movie Zootopia yet? I saw it 3D and I loved every minute. Many lessons learned too. I won’t spoil it for you, just go see it.

Today I’m showing another birthday look wearing a jumpsuit and cape designed for me by Zoearku. I paired it with an amazing statement necklace from Takai By Angela, studded pink and gold heels (my favorite of all the shoes I own) that unfortunately didn’t really show and a pink clutch. What's not to love, :))).

My last post was so lengthy and I applaud you for reading. I’m keeping this very short and sweet, ;).
