Wearing Yellow...It's a Matter of Hue

Yellow is the color of sunshine and happiness. It has the ability to cheer one up and get you noticed from miles away, Ha! It can also appear uber luxurious when paired with the right colors.

One of the basic colors in the color wheel, we have seen yellow everywhere this year. High end brands cemented this trend on the runways and bloggers haven't stopped donning shades of yellow ever so fabulously might I add. I used to be a yellow naysayer, but I recently found that daring yellow tones glow up my skin and look flattering on me. So when it comes to wearing yellow, regardless of whether you're draped in head to to toe lemonade or have 'less is more' as your mantra, it's a matter of hue. Find the perfect one and the color yellow, bright and mellow will be a winner for you as well.

If you're like me then you also can't get enough of bell sleeves. They made a strong come back last year. While it makes hand washing a challenge depending on the length of it, bell sleeves are fun and instantly add interest and an oomph to a look. So this crop yellow bell sleeve sweater was a sartorial win for me.

I paired the knit sweater with paper bag pants, another trend from last year that caught on really fast with the style set. Residing in the golden state of California, we enjoy the privilege of wearing straw hats well into the cooler months so I went for one of those instead of a felt hat to finish my simple look and accessorized with boots and a backpack.

How was your Thanksgiving and have you started your holiday shopping just yet? Did you join the craziness called 'Black Friday' shopping? It would be and No and No for me, but I did enjoy a great Thanksgiving with my children.

  1. You look stunning! Those pants are so elegant. The yellow sweater is a great pairing with them, it makes the whole look more fun. The transparent boots are gorgeous as well. Such a fashion forward combo! I remember how happy I was when I saw yellow trending on runaways, I even make a few fashion illustrations. For me yellow is the colour of sun and the happiness. It's wonderful it has finally become a 'winter' colour, until recently we could see it mostly in summer collections.

I laughed a bit when I read about how washing hands can be tricky with bell sleeves. It's true, but I love them nevertheless. They add volume and chic to every outfit....so they are worth the trouble.

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the Thanksgiving and I understand why you decided to pass on Black Friday. I only bought one thing this Black Friday, one of those cleaning products for the home. It was a busy week, I was filling in for another teacher last week and I had some extra paper work so I didn't have the energy to shop...and the shops were so crowded. It was a bit crazy, even the roads were crowded, such heavy traffic outside and so much people inside the shops. I gave up on the idea of shopping.

  8. Super cool combo, dear! I love how you've managed to pull off that yellow sweater but in a sophisticated mood!
Those pants and shoes are killer!
I've done a pretty good shopping on this Black Fiday, but only online: outside it was too crowded and between traffic and bad weather I've totally dropped the idea of visit some mall.
Really in the latest years I'm keep on buying almost all the Christmas presents online, it's much more quick, relaxing and handy!^^

  14. I'm with you dear, no and no I didn't do Black Friday or Cyber Monday either, haha! I actually took a shopping detox because I'm trying to be more of a minimalist in my life. I still love fashion, but I'm being more selective from now on. I adore yellow and you look magnificent in it Idu. You always are so inspiring and stylish!

  15. I am loving the mustard knit on you - it's so nice with the olive pants! :) I've been loving everything yellow lately, it is such a cheerful colour and a nice addition to a cold weather wardrobe :)

Hope that you are having a great week so far! It's been hot and dusty here, so very summery! Thankfully the crazy winds have died down :)
