How to Wear Army Green Without Looking Like You've Enlisted

Army green is the new black and there are endless ways to style this not so new and very versatile hue that has been enjoying a moment in fashion and making waves with bloggers. It's all over main street and splattered all over the pages of fashion magazines as the new way to achieve that tough yet chic look.
Move over camo!

Tbh, this trend is not a total new comer to the fashion scene. Remember 'cargo pants' from way back that mostly came in khaki and green? Wear your green as separates in the form of a jacket over a simple sweater to give it a touch of masculinity, or as a skirt with a chunky sweater, a scarf and a jacket. Pair your army green sweater with black leggings and a classic white long line shirt for a clean yet edgy look.

Any which way you lean, remember that trends are tricky sometimes, and at the end of the day we wear what we are most comfortable with. A peplum waist pants and a matching knit crop sweater in my case today. Breaking the green with pops of color from the bag and black ankle boots.

Most gals have a pants collection made up of blacks, tans and whites. But hey how many black pants can a gal own? Little wonder everyone is excited to add this versatile color to the mix.

You? Added a few pieces to your arsenal?
Like this trendy pair of pants I’m showing today? Styled with matching cozy ribbed crop sweater. I’m linking a few more pieces like this appliquéd drawstring jacket and this bell sleeves lace up sweater? How about this jumpsuit  and this other jumpsuit. I own a pair of this compression leggings and love it so! What are your favorite combat green (like I call it sometimes) piece?

Did you watch the inauguration?
I did watch the live stream with my students and it was really interesting to hear their views. The oldest of them are six so it was a first for them. When Barrack and Michelle Obama boarded that helicopter, most of them raised their hands and waved to them. I thought that was priceless...
...and after the fact, I saw an email from my principal that said not to watch in order to reduce chances of the students getting upset since most of our clients are immigrants.

  6. You always come up with the most amazing looks. Those peplum pants look amazing on you and I love how you paired them with a cropped top. Such a gorgeous all green look. I'm a big fan of army green. To me this shade is precious because it reminds me of olive trees and that's like my favourite thing in a world. So, yes, I do love this shade and I'm happy that it is bigger than camo this year. I don't think I own a pair of pants in army green- I should do something about that. You have certainly inspired me to get some with this fabulous outfit.

You look utterly gorgeous Idu! This is a winning look- your style just keep getting better and better!

I didn't watch the inauguration because I was working on something, but my husband was watching it in the other room and he kept telling me what is going on...I don't remember much of what he said though, my mind was someplace else. How sweet that kids waved their hands to Barack & Michelle Obama when they were leaving. Kids are adorable!

  11. Love how you styled this outfit, Idu:) Rockin as always. I think khaki green is actually such a great neutral colour and looks great with almost any other colour. And I did watch the inauguration on TV...well, I had it running in the background while doing sewing. It's such a sad day in history that I don't think I could've watched it straight on without crying.

  21. I have countless pairs of black bottoms myself and I'm actually a massive fan of this shade. I feel like it is just universally flattering and transcendent no less. I've owned bottoms in this shade but if I'm honest I haven't invested in newer versions for a good few years now. After this gorgeous ensemble I am so inspired to up my khaki game!

  23. Army green has not been in since MASH I think so its nice to have it back :) And, since the only female character on MASH was named Hot Lips I had yet another reason to recall the show while enjoying these shots. You do have such gorgeous lips, dear, and pick the most funky fun shades to paint them with. You have a great eye for color in general. Every shot was wonderful to enjoy but it was picture six that got me there this morning. Those lips curled into that sexy smile and those stunning, exciting breasts were way too much to resist. I was still so worked up afterwards I returned to it after taking in the rest and had the same fantastic result ;) And what a cute image of everyone waving goodbye, so sweet. Very glad you did not see that memo until too late. Happy day to you, dear!

I didn't watch the inauguration, I just couldn't do it, my time is much more important to me... How adorable that the children waved goodbye to the Obama's... that is so sweet xox...

I did watch the Women's march the next day and I will be participating next time, we had a march in Halifax and I was not even aware until after the fact xox <3 <3 <3

  32. You have such a classy unique style Idu. Love the army green trend, and I do own a jacket that I got last year, must come out to play soon. I didn't watch the inauguration because I was on my way to D.C. for the Women's March. I was sad, and marching gave me hope that the many that marched that day made people think about the country as a whole, and not as divided groups. Most people want peace and equality, I really feel that this is true. Have a wonderful week Idu!
