Turn up the Heat

We all know how to dress when the weather is cold or hot but the fine kettle of fish remains what to wear when the weather itself gets all goofy on us and keeps playing hide and go seek. A little too confused to make up it’s own darn mind? Cold one day, hot the next? Or cold indoors, muggy outdoors. Lets not forget cold one hour, hot the next and then rainy soon after.

I know! You stay 10 steps ahead of the game by dressing accordingly. Pile on the layers and peel off as the day progresses. That sounds so cliche right? Try covering up some to please the chill and bare some to please the heat. That totally confuses the weather I promise, ;). 

That's exactly what I did as I people watched at the park. It was so peaceful I really wanted to hang out there all day. I should have brought a book. And snacks of course. Or even invited a friend for a picnic. Oh well. It was just me and my phone, listening to every song from Beyonce's Lemonade. Which song is your favorite? I love them all especially "Don't hurt yourself", "All Night",  "Pray you catch me" and "Hold Up".

If you’re thinking I could use a day like this then you’re in luck cos warm summer days are around the corner. The weather is about to turn up the heat and sumer lovers all over are gearing up.

Hope you had a great week. Mine was extremely busy. On the flip side, it's teacher appreciation next week and the goodies are already starting to flow. And summer vacation is 20 work days away. Oh the joys of being a teacher!

Most importantly my twins graduate college (UC Berkeley, the best public college in the world, #proudmom) next week and my lil girl graduates 8th grade in a couple weeks. Those are the best mothers day gifts ever. You know I am beside myself with excitement. It surely pays to pop pop pop the babies out early.

2016 is most def off to a great start but do you realize we’re already down to the last week of January? Crazy stuff!

So chin up lovelies, Summer will be here soon enough. While we wait, lets black. And ummm, look totally head turning. You want to kick your full proof black look up a notch? Pile on the accessories. Cinch that waist and top it all off with statement cage boots for a very bold touch. Gosh you’d be hard pressed to find a better look regardless of how bright...

...and you thought black was your typical wiggle into it and run out the door on those days where we gals say ‘I have nothing to wear’ while staring into a closet thats about to collapse under the weight of clothes. Sounds like you right? hehe. Me too! So it was vest meet dress, another piece from the haul I gushed about here.

A pair of cage boots styled previously (here) a fun and cheeky clutch that will keep the conversation going until summer and mirrored sunnies pulled it all together. Such fun and unexpected accessories!

Try as I might, I couldn’t pass up a shoot opp. in front of the dark cherry wood door and the pedestrian bridge, a treasure hidden in the woods. Very nicely tucked away until I discovered it, :))).

Hey darlings, glad you made it back! 

It’s been a busy week working on assessments at school, inputing test scores in the system and working on report cards. I feel like I'm getting cross eyed staring at the computer. Then there’s parent conferences coming up all next week. Life of a teacher.

How was your week?

How was last weekend for shopping though? Did you get an early start on gifting? Tons of fantastic deals that were reason enough to go shopping, like we needed a reason, hehe. 

I honestly go through fashion dalliances every once in a while like I’m sure we all do and now it’s all about black. It has such a hold on me currently it's cray! Very out of character for a gal that swears by colorful Winters. My excitement was totally infectious as I shot this look. You would think I had on a purple dress, haha. I was undoubtedly my playful and relaxed self through it. Like whaaaaattt??? Such great fun. If only I could post some of the sillies, you’d totally understand. 

I’m assuming (and I’m pretty sure I’m right) that your holiday social calendar is filling up fast. Mine is. One of my party invites stated dress code >>cocktail attire<<  and I looked no more soon as I pulled out this lovely layered flounce dress with intricate lace bodice from my friend D Anthony of Vindictive Couture. I styled a piece from him here and a few other times in the past. The high neck and dash of fur in the form of a coat kept my elements warm and toasty while wearing this seasonless LBD

I paired it with caged knee high boots that I am in all kinds of love with. So much so this is it’s third outing already in the past couple weeks, (hands on head Emoji).

On Thursday, the color expert Pantone named Serenity and Rose Quartz the two colors of the year 2016. I must have seen this coming when I picked out a pair of rose quartz gloves to keep my hands protected from the low temps that have hit San Francisco lately.

While I enjoyed this session, all wasn’t quite impeccable below the surface. I almost hear you go uh oh and almost see the ears perk up some, hehe. I broke a nail from the nail bed and it hurt, ouch! Enough to cut my fun short? Heck no! Ain't no stopping us now (McFadden & Whitehead voice, hehe).

Another star of this look is one of my new lippies from my 'Back to Mac'. This one is called 'Men Love Mystery' and gosh do I love it! Enough to title this post after it, :))).
