Peplum with it’s sartorial elegance has been around for a minute and remains a high street hit. Vera Wang describes it as a play on proportions to make the waist look smaller. I personally have gone through several cycles of the peplum craze and still can’t get enough.

Fausto Puglisi’s signature originality as shown in this structured vibrant skater dress and all his discussion worthy pieces is one of the reasons I can’t get enough of his designs!
This eye popping bouquet (literally) from the FP resort '17 collection is made of black and red silk floral print and crepe with a back zipper and a deep v neck. The perfect waist cinch opens into a skater bottom with a high low hem. I wore a sheer black top thats a repeat offender previously styled here underneath and completed the look with lace up sandals and a red chevron Chanel bag previously styled here.
Florals have become my new obsession. I find that even when I’m just relaxing at home or need to run an errand, they’re the first things I reach for in my closet especially now that the sun is unrelenting and flowers still abloom. Did you see my recent floral looks here and here? Be it a top or a dress, they are charming and chic, feel just as feminine as they look and liven up any look. All those qualities and more make me gravitate towards the pretty print always.
I hope you like this look as much as I like it.

What a cool print!
Birthed by the collision of interior decor and fashion, marble the not so new kid on the block is having a moment and I don’t mean in the kitchen but on notebooks, cell phone cases and very commonly on laptop skin. This print has branched off counter tops, gone fashion and has been a player in clothing giving florals a run for their money. Style setters have been embracing and it and omg, it totally dominated summer fashion and majorly ‘trumped’ florals and other familiar prints in recent summers.
How To Style
Looking Chic in Marble Print is no rocket science. It’s naturally a very fun print and that’s what to have in mind with you think marble. Bear in mind that less is more with this print.
- Update your style in a flash by adding marble pieces styled with simple and clean staples.
- Let your marble piece take center stage or be the star of the look by toning down everything else.
- Finish a look with some marble accessories like a bag or even shoes and sunnies.
- Print on print using marble and stripes for instance looks so chic and fashion forward. Break the print with a belt to create interest while cinching your waist.
Today's Look
A good old pleated skirt is given an update in a marble print and offset by the frills of this button down dainty peplum lace top. I paired it with pink velvet sneakers that I discovered at my local TJ Maxx to make it Spring appropriate. This look packs a pretty punch and will ensure that brunch dates will never be the same, ;).
Has marble been on your radar too?
Taking the sartorial plunge will be so worth your while. Me? I’m smitten, totally! I embrace every aspect of this trend. Clothing - check! Shoes - check! Phone case - check!
Fun Fact/s
The word marble originated from the Greek work ‘Marmaros’ meaning something very beautiful and shiny.
Drifting Sand is a marbling technique that involves blowing ink through a bamboo straw and was was first referenced in a Chinese book.

The onset of Spring is usually characterized by the influx of bloggers loving up on iconic florals as they excitedly peel off the layers and the dark dreary colors of Winter. Thick coats and jackets as well as boots, gloves and scarves are moved to the back of the closet or to storage as the case may be. BREAKING NEWS: Showing skin is in again and florals are once again the ‘it print’. The rejected forgotten print reclaims it’s role as the 'print of prints' and street style stars are rocking it in ways that will leave you well, green with envy! Are you low key loving up on florals or are you full blown living in florals?
How To Style
Have you noticed that designers will floral any and everything from accessories to clothing? Fortunately the fashion gods have not written a set of 'how to’s' on rocking this trend and if they did, then I missed the memo. So for me as I celebrate the return of fine weather, it’s 'whatever brings that girlish charm to the forefront’ and doesn't leave any box unchecked. H2T of same floral print or 'wall paper’ as I like to call it though, not so much. That may get people staring and maybe, just maybe not in such a good way, Ha!
Today’s Look
Floral print is a trend to look out for this season. How do you style yours? Did you get a 'how to memo' or do you just have fun with them? Today I'm showing a dress in a bold bloom print, a perfect choice to not only cheer me up but pull me out of my recent cloudy mood, finished with black heels, a tritone bag and red trench. I included photo number 4 for your giggling delight. (LOL)
Fun Fact
The origin of floral fabrics can be found in Asia where florals are an integral part of their culture. Did you know that? I honestly didn't.
Song Rec. Scared to be Lonely By Martin Garrix
The Tears Won’t Stop Flowing: His face and smile are forever etched on my mind.
I've been gone for a few weeks because of the reason I shared on my Instagram here. I’ve never been this shaken up and just couldn’t get myself to pose for pictures let alone write a post. You may not know this about me but even though I appear tough, I am totally a fragile and very emotional being, have always been and perhaps will always be. I cry at the drop of a hat literally, I kid you not. When I was a kid, aside from being called 'Idu Nwanyioma' meaning 'Idu beautiful girl', crying was the other thing I was known for. I feel things very deeply especially when it involves the death of a young one. I had a semblance of closure in the form of a funeral and healing has begun but it’s going to be long and drawn out. My posts may be sporadic as I support my kids through this. And cry myself through this. Please bear with me.
Thanks a lot for the well wishes on Instagram. His family felt all the love. Life is fleeting, I hope that I become a better me with each passing day, to love like I’ve never loved, to forgive and hope to be forgiven. To laugh, to be more present. Cos it’s never that serious. I genuinely love ya’ll and thank you for always being there.

Its safe to say that pleated skirts are still the the THE skirt of the season. Solid or patterned, the fashion high way has been totally abuzz with them. Dress them up or down, wear them casually or formally, this ultra feminine trend is sure to please even the hardest of critics.
Style Tips:
One of the hottest trends of the year, there are endless possibilities for styling pleated skirts. Your flair for creativity and the look you’re going for determines how you style your skirt.
The transitional season between Winter and Spring has seen a surge in the popularity of pleated skirts. Here a few ways to show your pleated gems some love this season.
- A clean white tee or even a camisole and sandals is a minimal, clean yet chic way to rock your pleated skirts. Your skirt especially if its a print fabric will stay the star of the look as everything else is toned down.
- A come back kid, pleated skirts received a makeover and have evolved to metallics and mixed metallics that are so perfect for nights out. A pair of sexy strappy sandals paired with a metallic pleated skirt is all you need to twirl the night away in. Complete the look with a crop top or if you’re feeling daring, reach for that bra top you’ve been saving for when the mercury levels rise. You worked hard for that Summer bod and have to show it off anyhow!
- As the layers get peeled off, a vest especially a denim vest over a PS looks utterly cute. Paired with heels or sneakers, this is a winning combo.
- Give your PS look an effortless allure with a chambray shirt neatly tucked in and finished with a skinny or a corset belt and barely there jewelry.
How do you style yours?
Taking Care of Pleats
Pleated items should be dry cleaned to maintain the pleats and if you find that you are losing the pleats, don’t fret. Your local dry cleaner may have a re-pleating machine that will restore your item to its original beautiful state. I didn’t know about this until I read it up last year when my love for everything pleated started to soar to scary heights, ha!
Short of this, you can also reset the pleats yourself by manually pinning the pleats up and ironing them them down carefully. Goodluck with that! The downside of this for me aside from being time consuming would be lack of patience (mine is totally depleted soon as I walk out of the classroom) as it needs to be done one pleat at a time. Now that I think of it, perhaps some starch spray may help them lay nicely too.
Style Tip
I’d personally hang up pleated items soon as I take them off to avoid getting dirty and ultimately the need to wash/dry clean often.
I dressed mine up with block heels so my toes can feel the warmth of Spring.
Todays Look
Slowing down the Winter stride that you got down pat and playing switcharoo to Springs easy breezy lights can be tricky. Wearing blush tones and nudes is a great way to get back in the Spring groove. Lace is known for it’s light weight feel and the intricate weblike design keeps us cool when we need it most which is now.
Today I’m donning a gorgeous blush pink velvet skirt and a cute nude lace top finished with a boater hat (previously styled here and here) a blush fur topper , a Gucci top handle bag and a pair of nude block heels.
Even though this was shot in February, my topper of choice is also in the Spring approved color. Life of a blogger, you stay ahead of the curve.
This look is la combination of trends from lace to velvet and pleats. Let me just tell you now that I am in love with this velvet skirt. Speaking of velvet, who is a fan? I am! Have been since it started trending. Can every item of clothing be made of velvet pretty please!
Why you ask?
Well, for the singular reason that getting out the door is and can be a struggle for most of us. Just like winging my liner in the mornings which I've given up on, ironing eats up a couple minutes that can go towards a coffee run perhaps and I’d rather kick that to the curb if I could. And it there’s one thing we love about velvet aside from the look and feel, it's that it doesn't require ironing.
Give your summer wardrobe an upgrade by adding a few cute pleated skirts or dusting up the ones your acquired in seasons past. I’m linking a few that caught my attention here, here, here, and here.
Thank you for all the love here.

Army green is the new black and there are endless ways to style this not so new and very versatile hue that has been enjoying a moment in fashion and making waves with bloggers. It's all over main street and splattered all over the pages of fashion magazines as the new way to achieve that tough yet chic look.
Move over camo!
Move over camo!
Tbh, this trend is not a total new comer to the fashion scene. Remember 'cargo pants' from way back that mostly came in khaki and green? Wear your green as separates in the form of a jacket over a simple sweater to give it a touch of masculinity, or as a skirt with a chunky sweater, a scarf and a jacket. Pair your army green sweater with black leggings and a classic white long line shirt for a clean yet edgy look.
Any which way you lean, remember that trends are tricky sometimes, and at the end of the day we wear what we are most comfortable with. A peplum waist pants and a matching knit crop sweater in my case today. Breaking the green with pops of color from the bag and black ankle boots.

Most gals have a pants collection made up of blacks, tans and whites. But hey how many black pants can a gal own? Little wonder everyone is excited to add this versatile color to the mix.
You? Added a few pieces to your arsenal?
Like this trendy pair of pants I’m showing today? Styled with matching cozy ribbed crop sweater. I’m linking a few more pieces like this appliquĂ©d drawstring jacket and this bell sleeves lace up sweater? How about this jumpsuit and this other jumpsuit. I own a pair of this compression leggings and love it so! What are your favorite combat green (like I call it sometimes) piece?
Did you watch the inauguration?
I did watch the live stream with my students and it was really interesting to hear their views. The oldest of them are six so it was a first for them. When Barrack and Michelle Obama boarded that helicopter, most of them raised their hands and waved to them. I thought that was priceless...
...and after the fact, I saw an email from my principal that said not to watch in order to reduce chances of the students getting upset since most of our clients are immigrants.
