It Is What It Is

'It is what it is’. Such a famed catchphrase. It is what it is. It may sound rather cliche and somewhat trite, but valid regardless. And I’m talking about my love for all things crop, lace up and distressed. We fell for each other right off, the power of reciprocity, :). They’re popping up everywhere cos they’re trending and your girl is not crying uncle anytime soon. I’m guessing you’re not either. Go ‘us’! The heat is on anyhow. 

There is a plethora of ways to style crop tops of course and today I’m showing it with high waisted distressed denim like I did here. Feeling a little bare? Top your crop top with a duster. One with compartments aka pockets like this one, a repeat offender previously styled here was an ideal coordinate and ensured a harmonious flow. I completed the look with pom fur heels and a choker given to me by my son on mother’s day. A ruby stone set in a copper frame, one of my most treasured processions. He snoops out the best gifts for me. Mother’s Day 2015, he gave me a beautiful print bag which I really should style here soon as well.

So this is a quick share of my look to a 4th of July party hosted by my friend. I thought I gave bada*s parties but this gal is off the charts! I kid you not. Not a fleeting second was spent on aimless banter. Just fun, that much of which should probably be illegal. Or not. 

How was your week? Mine was awesome, goes without saying, :)). Busy too. My little girl is leaving to Canada with my mom for a month. Today she went 'mom will you cry when I leave'? I was like nope, why would I cry. She went 'cos you cry for everything'. 

OMG!

Anywho, SONG REC. for this week is Don't Let Me Down By The Chainsmokers feat. Daya. Love it! Volume turned all the way up. You?

Lace Up Bodysuit + White Jeans

So many trends and just one body! One of the top trends for Spring / Summer 2016, lace up is enjoying a moment and fashion/style bloggers and celebrities are all over this trend. From bodysuits to crop tops, shoes and dresses too, lace up offers just the right amount of sexy. Unlike certain trends, they are easy to pull off and versatile. Pair your lace up top with jeans, skirts, slacks, the styling possibilities are endless. 

Bodysuits are fast becoming a girls best friend. Given a nod of approval as a closet staple, bodysuits make for a clean and very polished tucked in appearance and are giving camisoles and basic tees a run for their money. Wear your bodysuit as a weekend uniform or underneath a killer blazer for work. Let a sexy lace bodysuit be a part of your night time getup and oh the heads you will turn!

 I took the plunge (literally) in this body hugging lace up bodysuit paired with a summer staple aka a pair of white jeans. I am always on the hunt for great white pants. They're such a perfect staple to have in the closet and I adore them. And heck everyone is breaking them out in full force. Are you?Black skinny sky high stilettos matched the sexy vibe oozed by the top and a peach bag added a pop of color. 

This 'Casual Perfection' is appropriate for movie and date nights. My daughter is leaving for North Carolina tomorrow for the 50 year anniversary of 'The Freedom Summer'. Ever heard of it? So we had a movie night yesterday to get some quality time in before she leaves. You guessed it. We saw "Purge: Election Year". Not a direct reflection but had me thinking of what's going on in politics here in the US this 'election year'. Grasping, eerie, hair raising, graphic and even cool are some ways I'd describe it. Then there's that intersection of violence, comedy and tragedy. Just like Shakespeare's tragedies. Did you see it yet? The previous installments?

This dress here! What an amazing item of clothing. This shoulder exposer will score you tons of admiring glances. A pair of lace up heels and a maxi bag added the final flourish without upstaging the cute dress with sheer mesh around the bodice. Wait a minute, wasn’t I just speaking to my love for cut out dresses here? The huge “missing piece" (rhetorically speaking) from this one projects this dress to new heights. Drab glam to bam! Ok ok, i just made that up and it doesn't even work. Part of an amazing haul that had me pretty chuffed, this teal beauty has been sitting neatly wrapped up and awaiting warm weather so I could show it off. We can talk about my love for lace up heels on a later date but perhaps we can address my love for bandage dresses today? Yeah? Aight. 

What can I say, I love them so and particularly favor this one cos it’s just the right amount of clingy. Flattering enough to show off your glorious curves yet hiding dare I say perfectly, those bulges in all the wrong places that visits to the refrigerator won’t let us get away with. Ha! Finding that right balance can be a little tricky you’d agree. I definitely love the on trend off shoulder sleeves and the sexiness of that criss cross can’t be denied. Wait, speaking of off shoulder you know what else I love about this ootd? The fuss free sleeves that firmly hug your arms and give an illusion of toned biceps. Who’s complaining? Not me! Plus the joy of not tugging at your sleeves every minute is unmatched. I could honestly live in this one all day everyday.

Unfortunately I can’t link the dress as they’re not a part of SC or RS and the shoes are last season. Bummer! Hello darlings! Second full week of my summer staycay has come and gone. Uneventful somewhat. Don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it here but my closet is literally collapsing under the weight of clothes. So I’ve started organizing. 'Keep', 'Give Away’ and 'Sell' stashes are growing.
