"I love you mom, this is for you”.
Those were the heartwarming words from my twins as they walked the stage together on black grad. amidst cheering and loudness spearheaded by me of course, their number 1 cheerleader. Memories came flooding as I made jumping in one of my trusted 6 inch heels (a break from my new found love of flats and sneakers, yes I joined the flat revolution) seem like a mere walk in the park and we all know it ain’t. Ha!
Today’s Look
I’ll start off by saying that formal doesn’t and should not mean boring. This endearing dress with geo cutout detail and matching shorts is far from boring and definitely pushes the boundaries of dress designing. It fit snug in my 125lb, 5’6 frame, was very figure accentuating, fun and took a lot of confidence to pull off. I added a pair of skin toned tights to keep it dignified for the event. Not your regular hangout dress. Ha! I teamed it with a solid coat not for a color pop but cos I’ve been feeling very very peachy lately. I finished my look with a pair of oversized square framed sunnies, my new favorite accessory.
A gorgeous pair of heels and sexy go hand in hand...
This pair though. Comfortable? Not so much! I seized the moment and kicked them off for some candid moments with my twins. My son was done in a minute, my daughter and I on the other hand kept bubbling like champagne, there was no stopping us. I laughed until my stomach hurt I kid you not. We met up with some friends for more laughs.
And afterwards I ate. In celebration of my babies. So much soul food. And I haven’t stopped thinking of that food. My name is Idu and I am a foodie.
