Pink isn’t just a color, it’s an attitude. Hello Fashionably Idu readers, welcome back!

How is your year going so far? Fashion wise I think its going to be a very exciting year. Neon yellow, crimson, and electric blue, as well as romantic and soft pinks, pale browns and of course whites are all trending. The 1960’s and 1970’s are back. Airy, breezy, bohemian pieces seem like they’ll be the biggest hits of 2015. Loose, colorful, hippie-like clothes, gladiator sandals and crazy platform shoes are returning. Valentino and Armani have already come up with pale pink, long, tutu-like tulle skirts. Have a look at Rebecca Taylor’s ruffled long dresses or Emilio Pucci’s flowing, dyed gowns. Large, bright colored flower patterns are in style, from Yves Saint Laurent to Michael Kors and Carolina Herrera. At New York Fashion Week for Spring 2015, bellbottoms and scalloped edges (Oscar de la Renta) also popped up. White lace is another interesting, nostalgic touch, so is denim, and bold intricate patterns, fringed clothes, shiny metallics (Alexander McQueen), lurex tops, jumpsuits and backpacks (Moschino and Yves Saint Laurent). Stella McCartney ribbed knit tunics, very loose slacks, knee-length and calf-length pieces - LOVE! I could go on forever, lol. But those Loewe Puzzle bags tho, yay or nay for you?

Dresses in an array of shapes and silhouettes are breaking new ground with me this season. From the structured to the not so structured and even the middle of the road’ers. With it’s girly round neck, high low hem and overlapping pleats, this playful one is no exception. The lovely pink would definitely brighten any gloomy winter day, those sweet rosy hues after all should no longer be limited to the mild spring days so spread the pink, Spring wouldn’t mind, ;). A fur coat and bag in nude kept me looking stylish, complimented the pink, and got me from zero to 100 pretty quick. 

I did go for the glow in neon heels that made a great accent for my pale pink outfit. These shoes are electrifying, anything but lukewarm, love them!

Beat Deets: I’m wearing Nylon as my brow highlight, Passionate and Vibrant Grape on my outer corners and crease line, blended up for a smooth transition. I cut my crease with Carbon. For days when matte gets too monotonous, I add a little shimmer or glitter in the mix, the perfect way to bring dimension to the face like I always say, hehe. I chose to go with pink glitter on my lid this time. Don’t ask me the name cos I’ve had it forever and the product name is all wiped off, lol. I lined my waterline with Fresh Water. Finished the look with NC 35 concealer under my eyes and my blush of choice was Breezy. I also used Dipdown not just as a liner but to fill my brows, it works perfectly. My brows are defined without looking ridiculously overwhelming and over done. You should try it. On my lips I have OCC lip pencil in Hoochie paired with OCC lip tar in Pretty Boy.

Everything Is Better In Pink

Time rolled over, from 2014 to 2015. We’re all blessed to witness yet another one. Folks all over the world hurdled close to family members and friends to count down and bid 2014 farewell and ring in 2015. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Horns toot, music blasts at parties, church bells go off, so do fire crackers in neighborhoods all over and fire works from cities that can still afford it. No one is left out. The young and the restless as well at the old and feeble all partake. All are in high spirits. It’s the high point of the season. San Francisco Embarcadero is a sea of heads, same goes for all major cities around the world including Times Square New York where crowds await the ball drop all 141ft and come to a rest at midnight on the dot signifying the official beginning of the United States eastern time New Year. Hosted by the legendary Dick Clark as John Lennon’s ‘Imagine' bellows ‘Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us only sky …’. This song honestly literally brings me to tears year after year. Don't know why, maybe it puts a lot of things into perspective. Marriage proposals, renewed promises and lip locks herald in the new year. Its January 1st. It’s also my wedding anniversary. The cycle continues. Time ticks on. The baton's been handed to a brand new year. Living in the west coast of the US, one of the last time zones in the world, we get to watch other cities and states transition into the new year. From Samoa, to New Zealand to Nigeria, to US eastern time, central time, pacific time and lastly Hawaii- Aleutian standard time. 

My family has a tradition of ringing in the New Year in Las Vegas. Watching fireworks right outside our suite at the Bellagio, or mingling ever so excitedly with the crowds on the Vegas strip. Fun either way. Not this year tho. We had a very quiet new year's eve. 

Lots of people have different traditions they follow on this eve. Some eat certain foods, others chant, some burn dummies, yet others see it as a very sacred time and just pray. I pray. And then I eat. Yes, I eat fruit cake and drink champagne most of the day in celebration. I count my blessings as I eat more cake and drink more champagne. Then I do it all over again. LOL.

How did you celebrate? Did you attend any parties? I got together with friends in the daytime then attended a party briefly later on. All in this beautiful ruffle top, serious waist cinching, bubble bottom dress that is packed with sparkles to match my glass of bubbly. I got even more party pretty wearing gold sandals in tune with the season. It’s still the glitzy glam season after all. To get me from day to night look, I switched my makeup from more lips, less eyes to more eyes less lips and added a gold clutch. 

I got home just in time to count down. And release not butterflies but the shoes from the tree. Midnight magic.

Midnight Magic, Happy New Year

The day finally came! The hectic days prior, shopping for bold and well thought out presents that are sure to delight, wrapping them carefully. With the most perfect bows perched daintily atop. And shopping for that perfect dress. The dress. The one with unmatched versatility. The one that’s not so over the top but has enough sparkle to match the season. The one that’s perfect for family dinners as well as cocktail parties. You looked once, looked twice. Heck, you looked thrice! And somewhere in your favorite shop, about 2:37AM since the stores have been open 24hrs, you found the one that you’d jingle the most bells in. You dealt with ever so long lines to pay for your find and irritated as you were, you managed to do this without delivering any insults on the poor overworked, underpaid and equally irritated associates. You probably recognized the sartorial ‘one’ as soon as you set eyes on it right? Your face broke into a smile and your heart gave a tug that you recognized as a 'yes, go for it'. Did you find one? Or a couple or more? All that have come to a screeching halt. The day is here! It's Christmas!
My dad's birthday too. The very best dad anyone could be blessed with. His one sin was he wanted us all to become medical doctors just like him. My first sister did become a gynecologist. Second sister got close, a pharmacist. Happy Birthday dad! Sorry we all didn't toe the line.

The dress! I found mine. Not in a store. Not on line. In my closet. In this gorgeous yet daring and unconventional black hooded mesh coat dress. I had an on and off affair with a white fur shawl over it. 

My shoes scream 'Go Bling Or Go Home'. Perfect for the gal who likes to glow and stand out in a crowd. Don't we all, hehe. 

My makeup recipe? A tad of Laura Mercier illuminating tinted moisturizer in Natural Radiance mixed with Lancome Teint Idole foundation in 410 for a little face glow. Topped it off with Laura Mercier mineral powder. I highlighted with Dior Diorific illuminating pressed powder in Gold Shock. Struck an air of sophistication with the festive dark hued lipstick. Night Moth lip liner under Heroine lipstick got me there. Switched to Flat Out Fabulous. Had flashes of shimmer on my eyes, thanks to Mac Cinderfella on my lid and Makeup Forever artists shadow in Blush on my inner corners. Highlighted my brow with Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. Sephora Rio Nights gel liner and Mac Lashes No. 44 tied it all together. Perfect!

About that tree! Totally unplanned. My mind is honestly always on overdrive. We had put up our tree with regular ornaments. Took hours too cos I love an ornament loaded tree. Like literally every needle has to have an ornament hanging from it. Then the shoe tree idea struck and I took down all the ornaments and replaced them with some of my shoes. Looked very artsy except poor lil yellow Drapesse kept sticking out in protest. It is breathtaking live, pops of red is all you see.  Such fun!
