School’s out y’all! Wait, did you even hear me? SCHOOL’S OUT! Uh oh, my bad I didn’t mean to rub it in. But my alarm’s off for the next 10 weeks. I’m not going to be able to tell my Mondays from my Fridays, such a good feeling. The joys of being a teacher! We may not be rich but we have our Summers off.

Off shoulder trend has been around a few years now, stays undoubtedly sexy and maintains it’s lead as a favorite Summer look. From the very minimalist and simplistic styles to the uber exaggerated, statement sleeved and edgy, from the tie back to the elasticized, the cold shoulder trend is very chic, sexy and visually exhilarating. As separates, they go with pretty much anything and everything from skirts in every length and style to jeans in every style, slacks and shorts too. The best part is, wait for it, wait for it - they look great on every gal, sorry dudes! Come to think of it, it’d probably look great on you too. Ha!

It’s safe to say I’m obsessed. You? Freed the shoulders yet? Come on, flash some shoulder skin!

Sign me up for this one!
That was my reaction when I saw this dress. I was immediately smitten and had to have it. Aside from being lilac, a shade of my favorite color purple, I love the midi length and the flouncy top that finishes in a pretty scallop. The long rear slit is also an added bonus and so is the bandage fabric that hugs every curve even though I'm wearing a size large. Very girly, playful, summery and elegant you’d agree. SWOON!

I’ve been over daffodiles but for this look I revived this pair for a shades of purple effect.

I added color pops with the bag and a statement necklace kindly sent to me from Takai By Angela. They need no introduction here as I’ve styled several of their pieces in the past. If you’re a new reader then check out some of their pieces I styled hereherehere here. Pretty amazing aren’t they? One thing that comes to mind each time I style a fabulous handcrafted gemstone necklace by Takai  is how very unique each piece is and how much I stand out wearing them. No wonder their tag line is "Dare to be different”. I stay a fan!

I’m linking some lovely pieces from Takai here, here, here and here and some off the shoulder dresses that will quench your thirst for this trend here, here, here, here and here. All great deals I promise.

Well hello darlings!
What are y’all doing this weekend? Aside from reading this post that is, :)). Me? Having a pretty low key weekend. So bummed that it’ll be Monday again soon. Oops! My bad, school’s out!! It’s saturday all day erryday now, <<<dancing emoji>>>.

I may not be waking up at 4am to get ready for work but I’ll be catching up on reading, for leisure that is. Between blogging and teaching, I hardly ever have time to read for enjoyment so I’m thrilled and look forward to curling up on my brand new pretty comfy chaise. I have a few novels lined up. One I got for my daughter - Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler, Modern Lovers by Emma Straub and Jessica Valenti’s memoir Sex Object. Any great recommendations for me? Pray make it one that will keep my interest and not leave me yawning and slogging along to it’s very very boring conclusion, lol. You wouldn't do that to me, would you? Ha!

PS: This is a sponsored post but all opinions are mine. Like my friend Shireen would say, there is no place for any BS here.

"Everyone has their own experience. That's why we are here. To go through our experience, to learn, to go down those paths and eventually you may have gone down so many paths and learned so much that you don't have to come back again"- Prince
Rest in Peace!
So glad I saw you live in concert at the Oakland arena in '11. Magical Night!

You can’t help but channel your playful side with this silhouette hugging bubblegum pink dress. All you have to do is switch out the day bag for a clutch and it's totally party worthy.

Hello Darlings!
How about this dress with a zipper running down the back? INSANEEEEE!! It’s all you need to show off your feminine glory this spring. Holy cow! It is a show stopper and scene stealer all wrapped up in one. And the best part? It’s hot pink, a hue I’m a huge fan of. I was quite a vision if I must say so myself, ;). The pink of my dreams, yes to it!
Are you drooling yet?

Did I do this dress justice? Your thoughts.

By the way have you stopped by the Saks Friends and Family 30% sale? I found a few things I'm loving including this stunning top, this gorgeous floral dress, this lovely Nanette Lepore gorgeous dress, Kendall & Kylie slit back top, and this trendy off the shoulders dress and the very pretty one shoulder dress by Diane Von Furstenberg. Too many fab pieces, hard to pick a few, :)). But gosh I love love this peplum gown that also comes on cobalt. And don't forget to check out this floral gown that screams Spring. My last picks are this stunning tulle and organza which I swear I might have owned in a past life and this ostrich feather dress.

What are you loving /hauling from this sale?

My daughter says I can’t pout to save my life. So I’m practicing to prove her wrong, hehe. I’ve included this image that shows my progress, hilarious! How did I do? Do you duck face? Please tag me yours on Instagram @fashionably_idu, or on Facebook

Pink Love

Hey gals and boys, did y’all have a good Thanksgiving? Wow wasn't I just writing a Thanksgiving post here? That was a year ago? Time zips by for real. My whole family of six minus my older daughter had an amazing and laughter filled day. Mom missed it all as she spent her day crafting. I cooked some dishes, ordered some, wore an outfit with a loose fit (iducation: whenever you plan on binging out on food, go for a loose silhouette) and ate. Then I ate some more. So much so I had to serve my bathroom scale separation docs. cos I just can’t with it right now. Maybe in a couple weeks we can rip the docs and get reunited, hehe.

On bright colors or winter darks, high necks on dresses are the ish this fall. On a pencil midi dress like this one, add a belt to accentuate your waist or wear it without for that clean look, truth is you’d be hard pressed to find a better fitting piece. This silhouette shaping outfit is in a chic midi length, my new favorite. I love the slight hint of ballooning of the bottom that created curves right where I wanted them while the nipped waist accentuated the hour glass.

Hello darlings, it's always great to have you back! Thanks for reading and for all the love you sprinkle. My week was phenomenal. Let's just say I am in a good place. I smile. Why not? The weather is still great, I'm still wearing brights and holding on tight to Summer, :))). How was your week?

When minis aren't cutting it for you with or without the most gorgeous of stompers and maxis just won't do no matter how fluid and amazing they are, it might be the perfect time for you to consider adding a/more midi dresses to your ever so fabulous fashion fold.

You’d agree with me that Victoria Beckham is the queen of swoon worthy midi dresses. When that gal made her designing debut, I was one of those that said and I quote, “I'll not be wearing the brand". But hey, the gal has made her mark. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think she is now a fixture at NYFW. I eat my words, hehe.

Victoria has a penchant to make stand out pieces out of conventional dresses. She is a force to reckon with in the fashion world but however amazing her designs are, I still can’t justify the very steep prices especially for being a new kid on the block, arguably.

Here are a few reasons the midi dress may be your perfect style solution to transition into Fall always:
This length is ultra flattering and dressed up or dressed down, will take you from day to evening effortlessly.

If you’re wanting a little bit more coverage, look no more. A midi dress has you covered especially with the crisp temps at this time of the year.

If modesty is high on your list, the midi dress has you covered.

A midi dress will have you looking effortlessly styled and very confident in your overall appearance.

Midi length dresses/skirts are fast becoming my new favorite style. It was love at first sight with this dress in a bright color and a lovely top to bottom zipper detail in the back. I kept my look very classic and simple. This dress fit very very snug and while I shot it, I kept thinking 'boy I should have styled an outfit with a very generous silhouette instead'. One that would be forgiving and hide all my sins aka ferocious consumption of anything and everything food in the past one month, hehe.

Regardless, this dress needed to stay the star of the look so I threw in a simple blazer, a bag in a muted color and classic yellow pumps to complete the look.

What are your thoughts on this look?
