If you get excited at the prospect of ‘borrowing from the boys’, you are not alone. Each piece comes out looking as effortless as it's fun.
What’s not to love!

Hope everyone had a great Mothers Day. I totally did. Busy times never let up and I honestly had a million things to do over the weekend so this will be my shortest post ever.

Today I’m showing an oversized gingham shirt that I scored at Zara ( told you about it here ) Shirts like this are very versatile. I love to pair my oversize shirts with skinny jeans. For this look I went for a pair of black leggings and lace up boots.

My accessories of choice include this gorgeous green choker and a matching arm band from Zadara Jewels. It was love at first sight with this set. The buckle detail is so cool and I have to say this felt so comfortable to wear and looked uber trendy. They come in different colors and add pops of color to any look.

Zadara also offers all kinds of fun jewelry and small leather accessories as well.

Has Spring fully arrived where you live? SF weather is such a roller coaster. Warm one day cold the next. Even though I shot this look a while ago, I had to show it love again as the chill returned yesterday.

Your thoughts?

Boyfriend jeans look nothing like their sibling the skinny jeans and a lot like their other sibling the mommy jeans. This trend came on the fashion scene many years ago. The 'style super highway' embraced it and is not letting go. I don’t believe it’s complaining and whats best is that the hug gets tighter. So much so it's not only stolen and staying in the spotlight but has become well, a staple. I am a fan, totally crushing on them! Scratch that cos that crush has developed into a beautiful and full blown love affair.
You?

What are Boyfriend Jeans
Simply put, its a pair of jeans with a relaxed and slouchy fit. They are not only stylish, they are comfy and trendy. They come in a gazillion different ways. Shredded as in distressed, rolled up cuffs, spot bleached, appliqued etc.

Ways to Style
I’ll be darned if judging by their rough and tumble nature, boyfriend jeans are seen as perfect for mostly laid back looks. They can be dressed up with blazers, classic white shirts and trench vests/ coats and print tops tucked in and finished with a waist cinching belt, the perfect heels and of course a bag to tie it all together.

If you belong to the school that believes they are casuals, then go for crop tops and simple tees when styling these menswear inspired pieces. Camis look perfect too specially as Spring and ultimately Summer are gearing up to roll in.

A fitted or slim chambray shirt over boyfriend jeans is a perfect denim on denim pairing. The tight top/ lose pants effect creates a good balance in proportion. Finish off with ankle boots, pumps or combat boots. The ankle grazing length is perfect to show off your killer heels anyhow. OTK and thigh high boots don’t really do this trend justice.
If sporty is what floats your boat, then go for a nice pair of on trend sneakers to add to the boyish charm from your jeans. A sweatshirt tied around your waist adds a playful and cool flair.

Any which way you style your favorite pair, boyfriend jeans never fail to come out looking as cool and comfy as they feel. Not to mention effortless and chic
 How do you style yours?

Today's Look
Today I’m taking a style cue from none other than the boys and showing a pair of boyfriend jeans perfectly street styled. Paired with a long sleeve black tee, a grey jacket and finished with combat boots and a veiled beanie. I’ve worn this same pair to death and in different ways. Show a different way? I aim to please, just ask, :).

Thanks for all the love from here and here.

Boyfriend Jeans: An Epitome of Effortless Chic

Lace has been a trophy fabric for multiple seasons and stays very popular with the fashion crowd. Found both on clothing and accessories, the grace of lace is unmatched and is here to stay.

The use of rich fabrics and an eye for detail are a couple ways to describe New York based designer Jonathan Simkhai. This look is a fusion of both. The fit and flare silhouette is one I love so much as do most gals for the obvious reason that it gives an hourglass look. Finished with a gold leather choker and gold studded heels, I was good to go. I adore the lace in the hem, such an unexpected twist as well as the flared sleeves. The tunic can be styled by itself and would look great with ankle boots and a choker. Would you like me to style the tunic by itself?
 Let me know.

I must add that ever since the ‘boob fairy’ arrived over 10 yrs ago, fitting certain tops have been challenging. A gentle tuck and whispers of ‘stay’ are usually all it takes. Didn’t work this time. So if you’re giving me the side eye, just know I tried.

Wearing overalls could be tricky especially if you are not a construction worker, a farmer, a painter or  a toddler for that matter.

Overalls were originally designed in the 1700’s as protective clothing to prevent work related wear and tear due to their durability. They have since evolved from that to being worn as casuals because of their comfortable nature.

Today I’m showing how I gave my overalls a street style makeover, adding a modern twist with my top of choice and my accessories to a classic comeback, very versatile and seasonless trend.

How comfy and dare I add sexy (yes overalls can be sexy) does this boyfriend overalls look and feel! Denim overalls in particular are a perfect go to for style and warmth in the cold months. The tomboyish slouchy silhouette is great for effortless layering without looking like a blown up by product of Winter.

Just like any other piece, there are no right or wrong ways to style your overalls. Balance out your basic overalls with print tops for an added fun and oomph. Wear with a crop top and cuffed legs finished with boots as shown here. Are you a fan of chunky knits? Worn on or off the shoulders, those make perfect layering pieces for overalls as well. Throw in a chunky scarf, the perfect accessory or layer a jacket over and you're good to go.

I accessorized this look with a pair of combat boots to add a tough touch and balance out the girly vibe from the midriff baring ribbed pink crop top, a veiled beanie which I literally live in (it’s beanie season after all and you'll see this one many more times, Ha!) a tritone bag that catapulted the laid back look to a whole new level, a pink tattoo choker that’s becoming a uniform for me and mirrored sunnies for an edgy finish.

Don’t you just love sunny Winter days!I read a post over at Modaodaradosti a couple weeks ago that did mention sunny Winter days. I live for days like that so I related! Cali weather is so deceptive and stays cold even when it’s sunny. It’s been very cloudy, rainy and stormy lately so when a hint of sunlight broke out from behind the gloomy skies, I was all over it. Umbrella in hand. Savoring the rain and the perfect California Winter sun.

How to Wear Overalls Like a Grownup

Army green is the new black and there are endless ways to style this not so new and very versatile hue that has been enjoying a moment in fashion and making waves with bloggers. It's all over main street and splattered all over the pages of fashion magazines as the new way to achieve that tough yet chic look.
Move over camo!

Tbh, this trend is not a total new comer to the fashion scene. Remember 'cargo pants' from way back that mostly came in khaki and green? Wear your green as separates in the form of a jacket over a simple sweater to give it a touch of masculinity, or as a skirt with a chunky sweater, a scarf and a jacket. Pair your army green sweater with black leggings and a classic white long line shirt for a clean yet edgy look.

Any which way you lean, remember that trends are tricky sometimes, and at the end of the day we wear what we are most comfortable with. A peplum waist pants and a matching knit crop sweater in my case today. Breaking the green with pops of color from the bag and black ankle boots.

Most gals have a pants collection made up of blacks, tans and whites. But hey how many black pants can a gal own? Little wonder everyone is excited to add this versatile color to the mix.

You? Added a few pieces to your arsenal?
Like this trendy pair of pants I’m showing today? Styled with matching cozy ribbed crop sweater. I’m linking a few more pieces like this appliquéd drawstring jacket and this bell sleeves lace up sweater? How about this jumpsuit  and this other jumpsuit. I own a pair of this compression leggings and love it so! What are your favorite combat green (like I call it sometimes) piece?

Did you watch the inauguration?
I did watch the live stream with my students and it was really interesting to hear their views. The oldest of them are six so it was a first for them. When Barrack and Michelle Obama boarded that helicopter, most of them raised their hands and waved to them. I thought that was priceless...
...and after the fact, I saw an email from my principal that said not to watch in order to reduce chances of the students getting upset since most of our clients are immigrants.
