Floral jacquard pants with classic white shirt and boater hat

They say, ‘money talks’. I say, ‘so do clothes’!
And when an item of clothing made out of the queenly and decadent brocade fabric decides to do the talking ever so loudly, I minimize every other accessory including hair. Ha! So excuse my kinky curls, the pants made me do it! And my very chic Parisian photographer nodded her approval.

This floor grazing pair of woven silk pants caught my attention at The Galleria in Paris and without even trying them on, I happily splurged! The color, tapestry print and long length are a few things that made it lust worthy for me.

Draped or worn, I’ve always been a fan of brocade which is why the walls in my home are dressed in them as well. So as you can imagine, I was a happy camper when this old trend made a come back on runways. It is a hit worn either on special occasions or casual as shown here. And even though this is not a pair I’d wear regularly making cost per wear high, I just didn’t want to pass them up.

This eye catching piece is thankfully not as heavy as the typical brocade fabric (hey its silk!), one con was that it wasn’t slimming on me. I had gained quite a few LBs from eating when I was on vacation (don’t judge) but it was nice to be able to blame it on the pants. At least until I took them off and it was all me, ha! I paired them with classic button down shirt because they needed to remain the star of the look.

If you’ve been reading me, you’d know I’m not a fan of ear rings. But I did give my ear lobes a work out with this cute pair. They worked great with the red lipstick and red bag albeit pulling on my ears and making them look like Junior’s from the SuperMarioLogan movie ‘Big Ears’. A pair of orange wedges finished the look.
I was in the mood to express myself through my makeup so I decided to go for a very bold, daring, far from boring yet fun makeup look to match the attitude and carry the hair.

I hope you like this look as much as I do.

Jacquard Pants and a Button Down Shirt

Fausto Puglisi’s signature originality as shown in this structured vibrant skater dress and all his discussion worthy pieces is one of the reasons I can’t get enough of his designs!

This eye popping bouquet (literally) from the FP resort '17 collection is made of black and red silk floral print and crepe with a back zipper and a deep v neck. The perfect waist cinch opens into a skater bottom with a high low hem. I wore a sheer black top thats a repeat offender previously styled here underneath and completed the look with lace up sandals and a red chevron Chanel bag previously styled here.

Florals have become my new obsession.  I find that even when I’m just relaxing at home or need to run an errand, they’re the first things I reach for in my closet especially now that the sun is unrelenting and flowers still abloom. Did you see my recent floral looks here and here? Be it a top or a dress, they are charming and chic, feel just as feminine as they look and liven up any look. All those qualities and more make me gravitate towards the pretty print always.

I hope you like this look as much as I like it.

Floral Skater Dress

Kimonos in all lengths long, short and everything in between are one of the most coveted trends of the season. Just like florals and stripes they are becoming staples in most 'it gal' wardrobes.

The Buzz
Why are kimonos all the buzz? The flowy and relaxed breezy feel of the Japanese robe is what makes them tug at our hearts. You have to admit, comfort is at the top of every gal’s list and kimonos offer that and much more while looking trendy and abso<<freaking>>lutely fabulous!

Someone asked me a very interesting question. Are kimonos a lounge wear or dress up pieces? I said both. Throw one over a bathing suit and a couple hours later throw it atop a pair of jeans with a clutch for evening. The options for styling Kimonos are endless. You can go any which way with them and non will be considered a fashion faux pas.

Todays Look
Today I’m all wrapped up in a Dolce and Gabbana Spring /Summer 2016 runway floral mini Kimono dress with dramatic sleeves and waist cinching belt that I totally adore. This kimono struck gold after Rihanna was spotted wearing it here. I paired it with strappy sandals and a white backpack.

Star of the Look
The star of this look is the stunning Diamond Dimples, made from freshwater pearls and crystal glass. This gorgeous piece is from the Takai by Angela new collection. Such a stand out piece, I’ve styled it several times in a month and it you follow me on Instagram here, you should have seen the pairing with an Ankara dress/jacket coming soon on the blog.

You are all familiar with this jeweler. If you’re a new reader then you should have a look at some of their pieces that I’ve styled recently here and here. They have a huge selection and every piece is mind blowing beautiful. The images don’t do them justice I promise.

Takai by Angela is a one stop shop that caters to all fashion needs from jaw dropping ankara styles custom made for you to fabulous fascinator hats, hair extensions and even shoes and bags. I love their colorful and very original fashion shows that allow shoppers to enjoy deep discounts and stock up on their amazing pieces. You can see some of the images on their Instagram here, or their FB page here. Have I whet your appetite for a Takai piece? Don’t wait for a special occasion, no time like the present to treat yourself by adding a few of their pieces to your rotation, just because...

Kimono Dress and Diamond Dimples

The onset of Spring is usually characterized by the influx of bloggers loving up on iconic florals as they excitedly peel off the layers and the dark dreary colors of Winter. Thick coats and jackets as well as boots, gloves and scarves are moved to the back of the closet or to storage as the case may be. BREAKING NEWS: Showing skin is in again and florals are once again the ‘it print’. The rejected  forgotten print reclaims it’s role as the 'print of prints' and street style stars are rocking it in ways that will leave you well, green with envy! Are you low key loving up on florals or are you full blown living in florals?

How To Style
Have you noticed that designers will floral any and everything from accessories to clothing? Fortunately the fashion gods have not written a set of 'how to’s' on rocking this trend and if they did, then I missed the memo. So for me as I celebrate the return of fine weather, it’s 'whatever brings that girlish charm to the forefront’ and doesn't leave any box unchecked. H2T of same floral print or 'wall paper’ as I like to call it though, not so much. That may get people staring and maybe, just maybe not in such a good way, Ha!

Today’s Look
Floral print is a trend to look out for this season. How do you style yours? Did you get a 'how to memo' or do you just have fun with them? Today I'm showing a dress in a bold bloom print, a perfect choice to not only cheer me up but pull me out of my recent cloudy mood, finished with black heels, a tritone bag and red trench. I included photo number 4 for your giggling delight. (LOL)

Fun Fact
The origin of floral fabrics can be found in Asia where florals are an integral part of their culture. Did you know that? I honestly didn't.

The Tears Won’t Stop Flowing: His face and smile are forever etched on my mind.
I've been gone for a few weeks because of the reason I shared on my Instagram here. I’ve never been this shaken up and just couldn’t get myself to pose for pictures let alone write a post. You may not know this about me but even though I appear tough, I am totally a fragile and very emotional being, have always been and perhaps will always be. I cry at the drop of a hat literally, I kid you not.  When I was a kid, aside from being called 'Idu Nwanyioma' meaning 'Idu beautiful girl', crying was the other thing I was known for. I feel things very deeply especially when it involves the death of a young one. I had a semblance of closure in the form of a funeral and healing has begun but it’s going to be long and drawn out. My posts may be sporadic as I support my kids through this. And cry myself through this. Please bear with me.

Thanks a lot for the well wishes on Instagram. His family felt all the love. Life is fleeting, I hope that I become a better me with each passing day, to love like I’ve never loved, to forgive and hope to be forgiven. To laugh, to be more present. Cos it’s never that serious. I genuinely love ya’ll and thank you for always being there.

Thanks for all the love on this post here. Your thoughts on this look?
